Procedures & Services > Diagnostic Testing > Visual Evoked Potential (VEP)

Your eyes will not be dilated for this test. You will need to bring your glasses with you. Electrodes will be positioned in different locations on your scalp. For this reason we ask you to have your hair free of hair sprays, gels or other products and to not apply creams, lotions or cosmetic foundations. You will also need to refrain from wearing any artificial hair devices or from wearing your hair pulled back or up.

The test involves sitting in front of a computer type monitor. The screen will have a checkerboard pattern that will reverse, providing the visual stimulus. The responses are then averaged and analyzed electronically. There should be no discomfort involved with this test. Please allow one to one and a half hours for this test.
